intro00--Welcome to the Marvel Champions universe, our version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Here, we're striving to create a best-of-class, one-of-a-kind space for forum-based superhero roleplay set in a reimagined comic space inspired by Marvel, with nods to Invincible, Hellboy, and more. intro00b--The Marvel Champions Universe (MCu) is an alternate take on the the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Alternate takes are often referred to as Alternate Unverses (AUs). If you are unfamiliar with this concept, please check out "What If...?" on Disney+ as it is probably the best cinematic representation of what an AU is. Unlike other AUs, we are not going to tell you what our "What If...?" is, just know that everything up to the first third of Captain America: The Winter Soldier is cannon unless otherwise specified.
First and foremost, we are an AU in keeping with the What If...? premise. This said, aside from the single over-arching What If...? in play, we allow for lesser What If...?'s referred to as "How Aboutz...?" (HA!)* as well. These little WFs can be signifcant in scope so long as they pertain to one character and wouldn't necessitate any revisions to any other characters currently in play. An example of a HA! could be "Howz About Agent Coulson having not died in the first Avengers Movie.". On the surface this might seem to fly right in the face of our No HA! can affect another character directly rule, but as the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been decononized from the MCU by Disney, this means that no characters would be affected so long as Coulson was significantly injured enough at the time that it would allow Directory Fury to claim that Coulson was in critical condition, that he might die or that he in fact did die. This allows all other events to continue on unabated.

Our Premise...

txt01_PREMISE--We’re excited to announce that the Marvel Champions Universe (MCu) is currently in its site ALPHA (pre-soft open). During this stage, we’re testing the site’s performance, features, and overall functionality. Everything we’re doing right now is essentially a mempf—a term we use to describe actions taken purely for testing purposes, good or bad, we make no apologies/all apologies are implied. This means that anything created or explored during ALPHA may or may not be carried over into our planned BETA launch in a few months.
Our Planned Storylines: While we’re still finalizing our first major site-wide storylines, our current focus is on The Avengers and The X-Men. We’re working toward an AvX (Avengers vs. X-Men) event that aligns with our site’s unique canon.
In the meantime, our ALPHA phase is exploring how the Avengers and the X-Men approach preparing the next generation of young heroes. This narrative is set against a revised version of Captain America: Civil War, offering a fresh take on familiar events.

Character Options: During ALPHA, members are free to choose from:

>> Existing Canon Characters (FCs): Featured characters like Blue Marvel, Colossus, and Hulkling.

>> Original Characters (OCs): Unique creations such as Maelstrom and X.

As an Alternate Universe (AU) site, we encourage creative interpretations of characters. This includes gender-swapped versions, revised backstories, or updated preferences. Our site is proudly LGBTQ+ inclusive and strives to create a welcoming environment for all members.
That said, our storylines may sometimes explore darker, more intense themes to create a compelling and immersive world for your characters. If you’re unable to separate In-Character (IC) events from Out-Of-Character (OOC) interactions, this might not be the right community for you.
Content Rating and Guidelines: The MCu is a mature content site, rated 333 according to the universal RPG rating guidelines established by RPG RATINGS. This rating reflects the potential for complex themes, intense narratives, and mature subject matter.
We also want to emphasize that everyone’s interpretation of a character is valid. If you don’t agree with another member’s take on a character, remember: you are not the one helming that character. Respect and collaboration are key to maintaining a positive and creative community.

The Story Thus Far...e1961

On Earth-1961, the events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have unfolded faithfully in accordance with their portrayal on the silver screen—up to our diverging point, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Everything up to this point is considered canon, with only a few subtle variations (our How Aboutz...? (HA!)) sprinkled throughout. In addition to the big-screen continuity, we’ve embraced the continuity of Netflix's Marvel Universe, including: Daredevil, The Defenders, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, & The Punisher However, the continuity of Freeform and NBC's offerings—such as Agent Carter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Cloak & Dagger, The Inhumans, and The Runaways—is not considered canon in our Alternate Universe (AU). Characters from these shows can still be app'd (approved) for use, with their core spirit intact. The only exception is The Inhumans series, which, let’s be honest, was roadkill on arrival.
