Why We're Different

Welcome to our Marvel Cinematic Universe roleplay community! We believe that a vibrant and enjoyable roleplaying experience comes from mutual respect, regular engagement, and a sense of responsibility. To help ensure that everyone enjoys their time here, we have a few core expectations for all members.

MISSION STATEMENT: Marvel Champions strives to provide a best-in-class system for hosting text-based roleplays. This is a passion project, not driven by profit, but by the desire to continue a beloved passtime: storytelling through collaborative, interactive, multi-contributor narratives. The heart of the project is the joy of creating stories centered around characters with ridiculous names, dressed in the most embarrassingly garish costumes, spouting the most inane nonsense, and facing the most absurd scenarios imaginable—all in an effort to save the world from the latest over-the-top villain threatening your local Dairy Queen (or generic soft-serve). It's a silly passtime, and we love it, and wouldn't have it any other way.

To that end, we’ve invested significant time and effort in developing the OMMMs—the One Million Monkeys Marching System. The name is inspired by the Infinite Monkey Theorem, which states that if you put a thousand monkeys at a thousand typewriters, they will eventually produce the complete works of Shakespeare. We can't vouch for that, but if you look at how most roleplaying sites operate—constantly re-entering and manually editing data—you see endless possibilities for conflicting information, typos, and wasted time. As these sites grow, the increasing workload often exhausts the staff due to the complexity and frustration of managing it all.

Enter the OMMMs. Here, we have one "monkey" (the site software) managing all instances of your data. For example, if you apply for a character named "Bob Belcher," the system will automatically initialize his application, reserve his face claim, and handle all other necessary actions. If you add a face claim to his application, the system will automatically reserve that face claim, and if the character is approved, the claim will be locked to "Bob Belcher." When you write a post and tag "Bob Belcher," the system will automatically tag him in future posts, saving you from having to re-enter it every time. If "Bob Belcher" is frequently tagged, he'll appear in your favorites, allowing you to tag him with a single click.

Life is hard—we want to make fantasy easy.

Below you will find an alphabetized list that is updated quarterly of site features, many of which are unique to Marvel Champions

CHRONO BACKUPS (Automatic)

MCu embraces the 777 principle for backing up site data, including images. With MCu's self-hosted servers, no datamining is involved. We actively block invasive datamining to protect your privacy. What you do here, stays here.

HYPERTEXT TRANSFER PROTOCOL SECURE (HTTPS)

HTTPS secures communication between your browser and our server. It protects data integrity, privacy, and guards against man-in-the-middle attacks. Your data is safe here.
